Pads, socks, or refills — pick by the situation

A practical six-row matrix covering the scenarios we quote for most often.

Scenario What to pick
You have a full spill kit deployed and need to restore it after a response Refill pack matched to the kit
Routine machinery drips and maintenance spills under 5 litres Absorbent pads on a station or dispenser
You need to dam a spreading spill or protect a drain Spill socks
Outdoor transfer point with water present Oil-only pads + socks (hydrophobic)
Chemical store with named COSHH substances Chemical-rated pads/socks or full chemical kit
New site, no existing kit, mixed maintenance risk Start with a full universal spill kit, then add pads

If none of these quite fit, send the liquid, the site type, and how often you respond and we will map the right mix. Get a Quote.

Pads, socks, or a full kit — how do I choose?
A full kit is the right answer when you need a single, audited response point covering the largest credible spill. Pads and socks are the right answer for routine drips, perimeter containment, or topping up a deployed kit between full refill replacements. Most sites use both: a kit at the risk point, pads on the way there.
Do your refill packs fit my existing kits?
Refill packs are matched to standard kit sizes and formats. If you have a Maximum Spills kit, the matching refill is listed on the product. If you have another supplier's kit, send the contents list or a photo and we will propose the closest match in a like-for-like quote.
Can I set up auto-reorder?
Yes — we set up replenishment schedules for multi-site buyers, tied to inspection cycles or a fixed cadence. Ask when you request your first quote and we will scope it into the account setup.
Is there a minimum order for pads and socks?
No minimum. Case quantities get better pricing but we ship single packs for sites topping up between refills.
What goes in the disposal bag?
Used absorbents contaminated with hazardous substances are hazardous waste and need the correct EWC code and consignment note. Non-hazardous absorbents can usually go with general industrial waste. If you are unsure, check our COSHH guide or send the substance name with your quote request.
